Description
When I was young I always pictured space in black and white. Gleaming white spacesuits, rusty steel panels on aging rockets, the light streaming across the plain of a lunar dawn. Color was optional, a glint of gold in a faceplate or a cheery, lost American flag painted on a fuel tank. These men are living that dream, starward-bound on a tin can only a Heinlein nut could love...
I'm not sure where the original rocketship artwork came from; I found it on my hard drive, it's origins lost in time. It's not mine, I'm pretty sure. Anyway, I tortured and re-lit the rocket & its astronauts; here, they're emerging (hence the name!) from some sort of nebulous...nebula. Dust cloud. Thing. Anyway, the faux-paper effects and two-color limit reminds me of some of the old Astounding/If/Amazing Stories cover art. Comment!
